Description: This webinar will be centered around learning about grief and will provide tools to work with grief in an adult population. The focus will be on grief surrounding the loss of a loved one; however, it will be acknowledged and emphasized that grief can be experienced by other losses (such as those experienced during COVID-19; losing a job; retirement; the end of a relationship).
The first part of the webinar will focus on learning about grief (such the normative grief reaction, theories of grief) and learning about the differences with depression and Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder (PCBD). A brief case will be discussed to highlight the difference between PCBD and normal grief. The second part of the webinar will focus on the treatment of grief (learning strategies, techniques used in grief therapy). The unique challenges of offering grief therapy during COVID-19 will also be discussed.
This webinar will be psychoeducational in nature; however, discussion and sharing of knowledge and experience is encouraged.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn and understand grief to help identify the normative grief reaction, depression, and PCBD.
- Understand the the different theories of grief.
- Learn about some different clinical techniques used in grief therapy.
