Looking for a new way to help children understand and manage their anxiety? Register for Dr. Robin Alter’s compact 1-day workshop where she will teach a successful therapeutic formulation of anxiety, along with a new clinical model for working with children and anxiety management. 

This workshop will teach a therapeutic formulation of anxiety that has worked extremely well for hundreds of children in Dr. Alter’s private practice.  She will explain how the link between imagination and anxiety can be used effectively in treatment. This approach starts and ends with an enhancement of self-esteem and actually motivates children to use therapeutic tools and strategies. Participants will learn how children’s anxiety and thinking are different from adults and how to be more effective with children in creating fundamental change.

Learning objectives:

  • Differentiate between anxiety for children and adults
  • Teach children how to control their minds
  • Manage children’s anxiety and increase their motivation for change
  • Work with children around anxiety to enhance their self-esteem, empower them and challenge them to face their problems and fears

Continuing Education (CE) information: 6 CE hours

SickKids CCMH Learning Institute has approval from the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) for participants of our programming to apply the number of CE hours earned in the program towards their continuing education hours.

Other licensing boards and professional organizations will grant continuing education credits for attendance at their own discretion; participants will need to submit the course outline and certificate for their consideration.
