Ask the Experts: Sleep and Insomnia

Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder and can lead to significant problems in one’s health, work, and personal life. You’ll learn about the nature of insomnia, how we can diagnose it, and take part in an in-depth discussion on potential insomnia treatments. Come and learn how you can make your sleepless nights go away!

Our presenters:

Dr. Michael Mak (he/him) is a sleep medicine specialist and staff psychiatrist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He also provides cultural mental health care for the Hong Fook Mental Health Association. He received his MD from Queen’s University in Kingston, and subsequently completed his Psychiatry residency and fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Western University in London.

Dr. Tamir Steiner (he/him) is a 5th year psychiatry resident at the University of Toronto. Professionally, his interests include sleep medicine, psychosocial oncology, general CL, and IP. He is passionate about teaching and will be joining Dr. Michael Mak for a number of the sleep series presentations during the 2022/23 academic year.
