WHERE / WHO WERE YOU BEFORE COLONIZATION?

The Black Mental Wealth Experience is excited about this Panel Discussion that intends to plant roots of our individual, communal, and societal identity in the understanding of who / where we were as a People, BEFORE COLONIZATION.

As Racialized People who have endured centuries of atrocities globally because of the richness of our land and beauty of our melanin, we have had to navigate and negotiate our identities in proximity and response to the threat or dominance of whiteness. We have not been free to cast a vision of our future without the exhausting gaze & scrutiny of those who oppress.

In the 2-Hours that we gather as a panel on August 24th, 2022 @ 6:00pm, we will begin the process of tearing down the legacy impact of the brutality we have endured and play with the notion of our identity before colonization and in the absence of the tyranny of white supremacy.

From here, we will then craft a vision of the future of an emancipated Melanated People, undeterred by the presence of whiteness because we understand fully where our true power lies. We will yield no longer to the lies, fear, and control that systemic racism was built on.
