Join YCAP for a free webinar titled "Cannabis in Media and its Impact on Youth" on March 2nd, 2023 at 1:00 - 2:30PM.

Media exposure to cannabis use is widespread. Celebrities, athletes and influencers speak about cannabis, while youth see cannabis ads on storefronts, billboards or online.

In this workshop, participants explore the impact of cannabis advertising on youth’s cannabis use by learning and applying critical thinking skills, understanding how media exposure impacts perception, learning about media persuasion techniques and identifying common themes used in cannabis ads. Finally, participants will gain an increased awareness of cannabis risks and harms, as well as harm reduction strategies, through reviewing multiple public education campaigns.

YCAP takes a harm reduction approach toward recreational cannabis use. YCAP does not make value judgments regarding recreational cannabis use, rather seeks to minimize risks associated with cannabis use by providing the most accurate and unbiased information.

Thanks for sharing! Is the intended audience services providers or parents or both?

Thanks

Kim

Hi, Kim! This workshop is intended for service providers as well as the general community, with a focus on expanding knowledge of the various topics surrounding cannabis use, including how it is currently portrayed in media. It is a helpful discussion both for providers with clients as well as parents involved in the lives of youth.

Thank you for asking! I hope this answers your question.
