This 2-day experiential workshop will provide instruction, demonstrations, and practice opportunities for using CBT to treat anxiety disorders. The workshop will begin with an explanation of the theory, research, and principles of the CBT Model. We will delve directly into an explanation of and demonstration of the way cognitive-behavioral conceptualizations are done with individual clients who have anxiety disorders. We will review the cognitive-behavioral model for anxiety in general and discuss psychoeducation provided to patients regarding etiology and intervention. We will learn core CBT interventions and their application to the treatment of anxiety disorders, as well as to applying CBT to specific anxious presentations. The role of mindfulness and recent research on optimizing exposure therapy will also be discussed.
