Culturally responsive programs are evidence-based programs that have been adapted to better meet the needs of a specific cultural group. Modifications to programs reflect language, historical context and culture or community values. Research shows that programs adapted to meet the needs of racialized children and young people tend to be more effective than those where culture or context have not been considered.
In this webinar we will:
- explore what culturally responsive programs are and why they are important
- learn more about how culturally responsive programs can better meet the needs of racialized children, young people and families navigating mental health and addictions services
- hear from child and youth mental health and addictions workers sharing experiences of offering culturally responsive programs in the sector
- get an update about the 2023-24 Innovation Initiatives grant program, which is currently seeking funding applications for culturally responsive or adapted programs
The webinar will feature panel presentations, followed by a facilitated discussion.
