Co-creating cooperative partnerships with reluctant and demoralized parents

Presented by SickKids CCMH Learning Institute

Live webinar: April 22, 2022 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST

Facilitator: Matthew D. Selekman, MSW, LCSW

How do we best respond to angry and hostile parents? With highly pessimistic and demoralized parents – how do we instill hope? How do we engage and retain mental health, and substance abuse-impaired parents in family therapy? In this highly practical webinar, participants will learn effective therapeutic tools and strategies for rapidly engaging and empowering challenging parents to resolve their children’s difficulties.

Participants will learn how to apply empirically supported engagement and retention strategies with challenging parents. They will learn how to use effective persistent outreach strategies to deploy with reluctant parents.
The facilitator will present practical guidelines for selecting and matching therapeutic tools and strategies with angry and hostile, laissez-faire, highly pessimistic, and mental health, and substance abuse-impaired parents. He will explain the use of effective parental stress reduction tools and strategies. Along with how to apply a one-person collaborative strengths-based family therapy approach with parents going at it alone.

Registration fee: $250. Student and group rates are available.
