Compassion as a Skill for Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Functioning

Online

Compassion as a Skill for Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Functioning
Webinar Description:
The practice of compassion can be understood as the concern we hold for one’s well being, paired with the motivation to alleviate that person’s suffering. Compassion is a skill that can be trained and should be deliberately practiced in order for it to be sustained toward ourselves and others. In this webinar, we will explore how compassion, at a neurophysiological, behavioural and conceptual level, is a way of attending to ourselves and others that can promote emotion regulation, interpersonal connections and prosocial behaviour. Drawing upon research and compassion literature, we will propose a practical framework for compassion as a skill to integrate in psychotherapy, to promote and serve the wellbeing of our clients and improve their relationships. All participants will receive a compassion handout, worksheet and meditation script to use with clients.
*All registrants will be entered into a draw to win a copy of The DBT Skills Daily Journal!
Date & Time: Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT
