Cultivating an appreciative mindset: A simple practice that will improve all of your relationships

Presented by SickKids CCMH Learning Institute

Date: March 7, 2023
Time: 9 a.m. to noon ET
Facilitator: Marion Langford, M.Ed.

Description:

Everyone needs a “go-to” practice for building and/or repairing relationships at work. We’re often advised to cultivate our communication skills or practice positive thinking, but neither of these by themselves has the capacity to authentically grow respectful and caring relationships. This highly practical workshop is focused on practices that are easy to integrate into your daily work life with the power to alter perceptions and your experiences of the people you work with – whether clients, partners or colleagues. Your work and work life can become places where the best in you shows up for relationships that can transform from irksome to having new possibilities.

Learning objectives:

  • A listening practice that leads to authentic respect and connection
  • Learn ways to optimize your time (and attention) when the conversation is highly negative – without shutting it down or criticizing the complainer
  • Develop ways of complimenting people that are genuine and avoid the problems of being perceived as patronizing, manipulative or insincere
  • Explore a practice that will help you address your own defensiveness in the face of unfair criticism or judgements about you
  • Be inspired and explore additional core practices that can lead to repaired relationships

Registration fee:
General - $125 |  Student - $112.50
