In this latest speaker series, our resident psychiatrist Dr. Josiah Osagie will provide a talk on understanding depression in black youth.

  • Understand how to identify depression among Black youth
  • Learn about the psychosocial context of Black Canadian youth
  • Understand what gets in the way of Black youth seeking care for depression
  • Identify strengths and resilience in Black youth, as well as future directions for mental health care of Black youth

About the speaker:

Dr. Josiah Osagie is a 3rd year psychiatry resident at the University of Toronto. Prior to his residency, he completed his Medical Degree at the University of Toronto where he graduated as the valedictorian of his class. His clinical interests include the mental health of marginalized populations, individuals with schizophrenia and the practice of psychotherapy. Outside of medicine, he enjoys writing poetry and spending hours in the garden.
