Course Description

This two-part interactive and engaging workshop series will explore new ways for participants to integrate trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive practices into their work and workplaces. Participants will have an opportunity to learn and practice safety and stabilization techniques that they can then share with clients.

  • How to recognize trauma symptoms.
  • Strengthen and build on trauma-informed practices.
  • Explore how to create a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Learn about the connection between trauma and addictions.
  • Review trauma-informed skills.
  • Explore Vicarious Trauma - how to take care of you.

Facilitator Biography

Lindsay Dixon

Lindsay spent over fifteen years working for local mental health and addictions agencies before pursuing her current career as a practitioner of expressive arts and yoga. Lindsay is passionate about destigmatizing mental health and substance use concerns. She is honoured to once again have the opportunity to share her knowledge and discuss the Principles of Trauma-Informed Care with the community.

Who should attend this workshop series?
This workshop series is designed specifically for helping professionals. We define "helping professional" as anyone in a position of interacting with people in providing a service.

How many people can attend?
Registration for this workshop series has been capped at 35 participants.

What is a level one core QoC workshop series?
This refers to a workshop series that is a part of QoC's core curriculum and is offered at a more basic level, though it can be beneficial to anyone regardless of their experience.

Do I need to attend both of the sessions?
Yes, attendees will receive certificates of attendance after participating in both sessions and filling out a post-course evaluation.

Will these sessions be recorded?
No, these sessions will not be recorded in order to maintain the privacy of participants. The session slides, however, will be sent out.

What is your refund policy?
We can offer refunds up to seven days before the first session. Eventbrite's fee is nonrefundable. After this period, we can accept substitutions. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
