This practical, action-oriented presentation focuses on how helping professionals can embody anti-racism inside and outside the therapeutic relationship. Starting from the mutual understanding that anti-racism is necessary, attendees are encouraged to arrive prepared to learn, critically reflect, and be challenged. The aim is for those present to leave with concrete steps to make change.

Macayla Yan (any pronouns) is a settler of Cantonese ancestry currently residing on the Homelands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Nation. Born on W̱SÁNEĆ Homelands and raised by their immigrant family, their ancestors come from the tropical 台山, 中山, 澳門, and 香港. Macayla has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. Macayla is a counsellor, textile artist, community organizer, advocate, and friend. Everything they do is grounded with the belief in the necessity and power of individual, collective, and ancestral healing and liberation.



Attendance Certificates

These sessions are free and open to everyone. If you require a psychotherapy certificate of attendance, you can request one after the session and there is a $20 CAD fee. Attendance will be verified through zoom and you must attend the full 90 minutes to receive a certificate. *Note: this session does NOT qualify as continuing education for the International Coach Federation.*
