Join this event, From the Ashes: A conversation with Jesse Thistle, the fourth installment of the Reconciliation Working Group Speaking Series.

This virtual event will spotlight Jesse Thistle, the Métis-Cree author of the award-winning memoir, From the Ashes, a #1 national bestseller, CBC Canada Reads finalist, and Indigo Best Book of 2019. Jesse is an Assistant Professor at York University as well as a PhD Candidate in the History program at York where he is working on theories of intergenerational and historic trauma of the Métis people. Jesse is also the author of the Definition of Indigenous Homelessness in Canada published through the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness, and his historical research has been published in numerous academic journals, book chapters, and featured on CBC Ideas, CBC Campus, and Unreserved.

The event will be moderated by Lori Spadorcia, Senior Vice President Public Affairs and Partnerships, Chief Strategy Officer, and include an opening ceremony from Diane Longboat, Senior Project Manager, Guiding Directions Implementation, Shkaabe Makwa.
