INTRO Session for Meditative Art for Expecting Mothers Program (In-person)
FREE Introductory in-person meditative art class for expecting and new mothers, as well as women who are actively trying to conceive.

About this event

The Art of Life Community Health Centre is happy to announce that the new cycle of the Meditative Art Program for Expecting Mothers is launching on February 8th, 2022!

Future mothers, as well as those women who are actively trying to get pregnant or have recently given birth, are invited to attend a free in-person INTRODUCTORY SESSION on February 8th.

The session starts at 6 pm at the Art of Life Community Health Centre (885 Don Mills Road, UNIT 400, 4th Floor, North York, M3C 1V9).

This program is called the “Joy of Co-creativity” and was specifically created for women to celebrate the joy of pregnancy and birth, and the relationships between a parent and a child.

One of the principles it is based on is building awareness about the importance of and possible challenges when adjusting to the emerging role of a parent.

In this program, Meditative Art represents a tool to support mental health and wellbeing, by bringing an expectant parent to the present moment, and practicing self-awareness, attentiveness, serenity, and quietness.

In this program, we integrate (in other words, put together) great pieces of visual art and classical music compositions, as well as heart meditation, to focus on the inner state of the "artist" (aka a future parent).

Our goal is to facilitate an environment and atmosphere which fosters the development of strong, meaningful and mindful relationships between the future parent and the expected child during the pregnancy, and even before the pregnancy.

Meditative Art is used as a technique to connect to “within” or the "true inner self” in light of the evolving life circumstances. It also aims to facilitate a connection between a future parent and a child in order to start creating a happy life together, even when the baby is still in the womb.

The program incorporates various forms of visual art, including painting, sculpture, installation, collage and much more.

Even though there are many individual activities for future parents, the emphasis is also placed on group work, highlighting the importance of the exchange of knowledge and experience, where participants will support each other during their journey through preparation for pregnancy, pregnancy itself and parenthood.
