NEW Introduction to Primary Care Psychotherapy: Supervision in a group format: by ZOOM

These ZOOM sessions are practical, interactive, and relevant for all Physicians and other psychotherapists working with patients with mental illness. Focusing especially on the emotional aspects of the patient-therapist relationship these sessions are supportive and encouraging to the doctor/psychotherapist.

Earn up to 72 certified Mainpro + ® credits and

Each session is approved for 1 hour of MDPAC CE Assessment OR (but NOT as well as) 1 hour of MDPAC CCI.

Each Track is approved for 12 hours of MDPAC CE Assessment OR (but NOT as well as) 12 hours of MDPAC CCI.

Track 1: Mondays 7:00 to 8:00 PM, (Earn up to two Mainpro + credit per hour)

TOPICS: Qualities and Actions of Effective Psychotherapists and Boundary Issues in Psychotherapy. Dates: November 15th, 22nd, 29th, December 6th, 13th, 20th 2021, January 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, February 7th and 14th 2022 (12 sessions)

Track 2: Thursdays 4:00 to 5:00 PM, (Earn up to two Mainpro + credit per hour)

TOPICS: Interpersonal psychotherapy and standards and guideline for the psychotherapy

Dates: November 18th, 25th, December 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 2021, January 13th, 20th and 27th, February 3rd, 10th and 17th 2022 (12 sessions)

Track 3: Fridays: 9:00 to 10:00 AM (Earn up to two Mainpro + credit per hour)

Topics: Interpersonal psychotherapy and standards and guideline for psychotherapy

Dates:  November 12th, 19th, December 3rd, 10th, 17th, 2021, January 7th, 14th 21st and 28th, February 4th, 11th and 18th 2022 (12 sessions)

The Facilitator is Dr Michael Pare, M.Sc., M.Ed., M.D. RP. Michael has had a long-time deep involvement with the learning, and teaching, and providing of Psychotherapy for many years. Dr. Pare has several credentials in the practice of medicine. He is certified in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Certified in Group Psychotherapy (AGPA). In addition, Michael has obtained a diploma in the Advanced Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (ATPPP) from U of T.          Dr Pare is a Teaching Mentor / Supervisor of the the Medical Psychotherapy Association of Canada (MDPAC) and also supervises for the Ontario College of Family Physicians. He received further training in psychotherapy supervision from the University of Lethbridge. Additionally, Michael has twice attended in the USA Balint Training Intensives. (These training programs are teaching a type of supervision called a Balint group supervision that is considered a gold standard for the supervision/mentoring of family practice residents and practicing family doctor/psychotherapists in the psychological aspects of Family Medicine). Dr Pare, is currently offering a modified type of supervision/mentoring sessions (by ZOOM) to family practice residents and to family doctor/psychotherapists.
