Do you, or someone you know have the passion to advocate for mental health and addictions peer support throughout northeastern Ontario?!
Please take a read below of the Board of Directors recruitment that, we, Lived Experience & Recovery Network (LERN), are seeking. Please share/post with your colleagues, networks, and any community members.

The Lived Experience & Recovery Network is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications from all northeastern, Ontario, community members to serve on our Board of Directors, for a minimum two-year term of service, 2023 – 2025.

To Apply, please submit:

  • Documents/resume (cover letter – optional not mandatory)
  • And complete the following digital application on Google Forms (Gmail account is not necessary to complete form).
  • Be available to virtually attend LERN’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, September 21st, 2023, at approximately 4:00pm.

    LERN helps to build the capacity of local and regional organizations that are led by peers with lived experience, ensuring their voices are heard. This is a voluntary position that allows the opportunity to help share the delivery of peer support services and more across the northeastof Ontario.We are committed to active direction of projects that directly improve the capacity of peer support organizations across the region. We serve member organizations in the northeast of Ontario in the regions of Algoma, Sudbury/Manitoulin/Muskoka Parry Sound, Nipissing, Cochrane and Temiskaming. Our Board of Directors consists of individuals who represent these regions.

Our Mission: LERN is a networking body linking, supporting, and educating all consumer/ survivor and family organizations in the northeast region of Ontario.

Our Vision: Empowering peer communities towards wellness and recovery.

Our Board: Our Directors are responsible for representing the interests of LERN and operate within our by-laws and policies. Directors are required to work collectively and in the best interest of LERN and its members. As a peer organization we value peer support, diversity, confidentiality, respect, honesty, equality, inclusiveness, and empowerment.

Our Staff: LERN has two part-time employees. The Regional Director and the Education & Support Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Age 18+
  • Resident of Northeastern Ontario.
  • Commitment to a volunteer position for a two-year term.
  • Please read further in the responsibilities section below.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Actively participating in approximately 8-10 virtual meetings and committee work per year (virtually and/or in person when possible).
  • Collaborate and provide feedback through ongoing electronic communications (email).
  • Help to direct and support LERN’s operations.
  • Raise awareness of LERN and its Peer Support programs/organizations.
