MD Psychotherapy Association of Canada Psychotherapy Training Program

To Medical Doctors and Nurse Practitioners:

Are you looking for a personally and professionally enriching continuing education experience that will help you deepen your communication skills within a community of caring and compassionate colleagues?

The MDPAC Psychotherapy Training Program is a five weekend training course offered via ZOOM for any type of MD (or nurse practitioners in primary care) wishing to increase their skills in providing counselling or psychotherapy in the context of a comprehensive family medicine practice, or other medical setting. It is also a course that can help prepare you to develop a focused practice in psychotherapy.

While there are many models of therapy, it has become more apparent and empirically supported that the most important factor in healing is the therapeutic alliance or relationship.  This program will focus on the basic core skills required to foster, manage ruptures of, and create safety within, this relationship, while also learning ways to care for ourselves while caring for others.

Each of the five weekend modules consists of both didactic and experiential components with adequate opportunities for feedback, consultation and interaction with presenters and colleagues during the weekend modules as well as during the five online group program supervision sessions during the program.

This Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 140 Mainpro+ credits which includes 5 supervision sessions.

Cost: $1750 for MDPAC member and $2000 for non-members.
