Methamphetamine Harm Reduction Strategies in Hospitals - Project Launch Event

A recent study in London, Ontario reported methamphetamine use in hospitals posed a greater risk of infection compared to use in the community. Harm reduction strategies are not currently implemented in hospital settings in Canada as safe consumption requires an exemption under Section 56.1 of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act from Health Canada.

On Friday, April 23rd 10-11am, learn about how LHSC, SJHC and the Mental Health Nursing Research Alliance team are looking to find and develop harm reduction strategies within hospital settings for individuals who use methamphetamine.

With funding from Health Canada, this study seeks to find what harm reduction strategies are needed and whether these can be implemented. This study represents a groundbreaking shift in the health care system in Canada.
