Motivational Interviewing: How to Motivate Healthy Behaviours

Zoom Webinar

'Motivational Interviewing: How to Motivate Healthy Behaviours' is a workshop for clinicians on Motivational Interviewing that will be presented by Dr. David Murphy. Dr. Murphy is a Physician and Medical Psychotherapist based in Leamington, Ontario. The workshop will be provided through Zoom on May 17 2021 from 9am to 3pm EST. Clinicians who can benefit from this workshop include physicians, nurses, social workers, psychotherapists, addiction counsellors, psychologists, pharmacists and physiotherapists.

Join the workshop and learn how to structure a conversation, so that a patient or client is motivated to take responsibility for implementing new, healthy behaviours.

Studies have shown that using these conversational skills will improve the health of the patient or client and improve the job satisfaction of the healthcare provider. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Describe two theoretical models of behaviour change that can guide conversations with patients and clients.

2. Demonstrate four motivational interviewing skills.

3. Describe the key elements of a visit with a patient or client.

4. Put into practice two techniques to use in clinical settings to influence change.

This workshop will be provided online through Zoom. So, you can connect to the workshop from the comfort of your own home or office. The workshop is experiential and interactive. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice their skills in break-out groups. Handouts will be provided. Space is limited. The workshop is limited to 18 people, so that there is ample opportunity for discussion by the participants.

The fee for the workshop is CAD$95, plus taxes and fees.
