New Beginnings: From Victimization to Victory

January 30, 2023 @ 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET

Presented by: Catherine Chan, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW

This course is designed to enrich the knowledge, skills and capacity of the social workers, social service workers and other fellow professionals for providing client centered and culturally responsive services to their clients from racialized communities, with reference to evidence-based best practices, and in a way that helps to make a difference to the lives of their service users. In particular, the course will provide a platform for the audience to: reflect on their understanding of the impact of recent global and community events, and especially COVID-19 and systemic racism against Asians, on the racialized populations, the audience’s emotional process of such events, and their actions for attending to their clients’ identified needs; share tools for enhancing the audience’s effectiveness in serving clients who experience abuse related to their ethno racial identity; help the audience with lived experience to attend to their own self care needs; and help professionals among the audience who are from the mainstream ethno racial communities, and who want to fortify their work as racial allies for anti Asian racism.

OASW Members: $50

Non-Members/Allied Health Professionals: $100
