SMART HOMES: SUPPORTING COMMUNITY INTEGRATION FOR CLIENTS WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS

In 2019, the Mental Health Nursing Research Alliance team began a study into the use of Smart Technologies in the home for individuals living in the community with severe mental illness. Among the technologies included a smartphone, an activity tracker, a weigh scale, an automated medication dispenser and a wall mountable touch-screen monitor. These devices were connected to a centralised database for care providers to monitor health data and send prompts/reminders to their clients.

Having completed the study at the end of 2020, this event will present the results of the study as well as the implications of this new innovative approach to mental health care.

This event will showcase the findings and implications of the Smart Homes: Community Model Phase as the project has now ended.
