Supporting Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence-related Traumatic Brain Injury

This webinar will raise awareness and knowledge about the intersection of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)-related Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

It will include information about micro level supports and resources for IPV survivors as well as providing education for people who work directly or indirectly with individuals experiencing IPV/Gender Based Violence (GBV) about the leading impairments of TBI that may manifest in practice. Screening tools, symptom categories and mitigating strategies will be discussed so that social workers and services providers may work more effectively with individuals who may have an unidentified TBI, thereby reducing barriers that may be faced by service users.

By the end of this webinar, learners will: - Increase their awareness of high rates of IPV-related TBI

  • Gain awareness of TBI symptoms that mimic other issues like substance use, non-compliance etc.
  • Understand the 5 leading impairment categories of TBI and mitigating strategies for each
