Trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy: Blending theory with innovative techniques

New dates: April 4 and 5, 2022 | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST
Facilitator: Liana Lowenstein, MSW, RSW, CPT-S

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy is an empirically-supported psychotherapy model for treating traumatized children and adolescents. The effectiveness of this approach is enhanced by integrating creative, developmentally appropriate interventions so that children will engage in treatment.

This two-day webinar will provide an overview of the theoretical framework of trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT). It will present creative interventions for the 8 components of TF-CBT. Psychoeducation, relaxation, affective modulation, cognitive processing, trauma narrative, in-vivo mastery, conjoint child-parent sessions, and enhancing safety. The facilitator will present therapeutic games, art, stories, and other innovative activities for use with traumatized children aged 4-16. She will also review strategies for working with hard-to-engage children and parents.

This webinar will combine theoretical material with hands-on therapeutic interventions. Along with strategies for engaging children in play therapy (and parents in treatment). Learners will explore case examples, activity demonstrations, experiential exercises, and videos of actual client sessions. Participants will come away with a solid understanding of TF-CBT and how to utilize it in play therapy to treat a range of childhood traumas.

Registration includes a copy of Liana Lowenstein’s book “Cory Helps Kids Cope with Sexual Abuse: Playful Activities for Traumatized Children“

Registration fee: $500. Student and group rates are available.

Will you be having a repeat of this workshop after April? Is a recording available for purchase? At what price?

Good morning, Thank you for your inquiry into our T-F CBT training with Liana Lowenstein. Currently we do not have it scheduled to run again this spring. We are however looking at dates to add this in the Fall 2022 lineup. We do have recorded sessions of this training available.
