Mary Seeman Lecture: Expanding access and scaling up psychiatric/mental health care
Dr. Sona Dimidjian is Director of the Renée Crown Wellness Institute and Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research focuses on cultivating mental health and wellness among women, children, and families by engaging people’s capacities for learning to care for themselves and their communities. She develops and studies programs and practices in education and healthcare settings, with an emphasis on navigating key developmental transitions, such as the perinatal period, early childhood, and adolescence. She also has a longstanding interest in expanding access, scaling, and sustaining effective programs, using both digital technology and community-based partnerships.

Using Digital Technology to Disseminate Psychotherapy
Professor Christopher Fairburn is Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. His primary research interest is in the development and evaluation of psychological treatments. He is currently working in two related areas. The first is the global dissemination of effective psychological treatments. He is closely involved with Harvard's EMPOWER initiative. The second is the use of digital technology to help disseminate psychological treatments.
Professor Fairburn is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and has twice been a Fellow at Stanford’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. This year he was awarded an OBE for "Services to psychological treatments and the treatment of eating disorders".
Dr. Atif Rahman Professor of Child Psychiatry, University of Liverpool
Scaling up Psychotherapy: Lessons from Global Health
Dr. Atif Rahman is professor of child psychiatry at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom where he leads the global mental health research group. He is a co-founder of the Human Development Research Foundation in Pakistan and the Scientific Advisor to the Federal Ministry of Health, Pakistan on mental health. He is an expert in developing and evaluating culturally appropriate psychosocial interventions across the life-course that can be delivered by non-specialists health professionals, teachers and parents. He has a particular interest in scale-up of mental health interventions in low and middle-income countries. He works closely with the World Health Organization in evaluating and disseminating psychological interventions globally.
