Virtual Youth Peer Mental Health Support Group - 1st & 3rd Saturdays Monthly

Our bi-weekly Saturday Peer Mental Health Support groups (Rising Together) seek to improve  or support the overall mental well-being of youth through empathetic, holistic and healing-centered conversation. Our groups adopt a person-centered approach to navigating through the circumstances and things that impact our mental health. Participants are open to interact with a community of other peers who may have been through similar circumstances, while they learn coping strategies, gain insight and listen to others express the feelings and emotions surrounding their mental well-being. Participants are also welcome to just listen to others share, without contributing themselves, which could also be a very helpful process. In a nutshell, peer support is having a supportive conversation with others in a similar situation.

All participants will receive a $15 food card to support with any immediate food relief needs. Services occur bi-weekly on Saturdays from 1pm-3pm. All services are virtual and incorporate a number of privacy and confidentiality measures to ensure the safety of all participants. Peer Support Facilitators have completed an 8-week training course with the Mood Disorder's Association of Ontario (MDA), and attend regular Community of Practice (COP) meetings along with continued growth and development opportunities. All youth participants are also provided with info on other Youth Rising Above wrap-around supports that are available.

Participants can register directly at www.youthrisingabove.org/rising-together
