Webinar: Helping your patients manage depression, anxiety and fear of recurrence after cancer treatment: Resources for health care providers

This webinar is co-presented by the Canadian Mental Health Association Ontario’s BounceBack program, the Peter Gilgan Centre for Women's Cancers at Women’s College Hospital, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Anxiety, depression and fear of recurrence are common mental health challenges faced by cancer survivors. As a primary or community care provider, it is critical that you understand your patients’ concerns after cancer treatment and connect them to appropriate resources as they transition from cancer treatment into your care.

Join our free lunchtime webinar for information and resources on how you can support your patients throughout their recovery journey.

This webinar will highlight findings from a new study by Women’s College Hospital that examined the impact of a virtual cognitive behavioural therapy-based telephone coaching program (BounceBack) on depression, anxiety and fear of cancer recurrence on cancer survivors, recently published in Supportive Care in Cancer. We will also share resources for care providers to support patients after cancer treatment.

The presenters include:

  • Dr. Carol Townsley, Medical Director, After Cancer Treatment Transition Clinic (ACTT), Women’s College Hospital
  • Dr. Alexandra Ginty, Family Physician, Dorval Medical Family Health Team; Canadian Partnership Against Cancer
  • Joanne Stewart, Director, Strategic Development, Canadian Cancer Society
  • Dr. Helen Chagigiorgis, Clinical Director of Training and Operations, Ontario Structured Psychotherapy, Registered Clinical & Forensic Psychologist
  • Anna Piszczkiewicz, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Specialist, BounceBack

This webinar will be of interest to: Primary and community care providers who support individuals, along with their families and caregivers, experiencing declining mental health due to a chronic condition, such as adjusting to life after cancer treatment.
