Increase your emotional literacy at work
Presented by SickKids CCMH Learning Institute as part of our Summer Sprint Microlearning series
Live webinar: July 22, 2021 | Time: 9:30 a.m. to noon EST
Facilitator: Marion Langford, M.Ed
Becoming literate about emotions means recognizing, naming, and responding to the presence of different emotions in your life. It doesn’t mean trying to control or suppress them, or allowing them to overwhelm you. It’s about developing healthy practices to channel and read emotions in order to make better decisions and choices. When we fail to read our emotions and those of others, it can cost us positive relationships, productivity and innovative thinking.
This webinar draws upon the leading-edge approach to emotions in the work of Karla McLaren and Dynamic Emotional Integration.®
Learning objectives:
- Expand your understanding and appreciation for the role of emotions
- Give you an introduction to 17 different emotions and how to see both their gifts and their messages when they’re present
- Assist you to listen to and work with your emotions, and those of others, so that in everything you do, you increase your awareness of choices to create better outcomes
- Teach the mindfulness practices that help harness the unique energy of emotions (and reduce the fear of being overwhelmed)
- Support you to become more empathically attuned to colleague, staff, and client emotions
