COVID-19 related content: This webinar will be pitched directly toward health-care practitioners to enhance their skills for managing burnout, navigating difficult emotions, and persisting in their chosen personal and professional roles as the global pandemic enters its final phase.

Description: It has become a cliché to say these are unprecedented times. But it is true that the last year has been vastly different from any time we remember. Without warning, we are faced with so much: threats to the health and well-being of the world, loneliness and disconnection, teaching our children with no time or training, the invitation to step up for racial justice in a meaningful way, the grief of sudden loss—and much, much more.

Unprecedented times require putting new tools in your toolkit. In this webinar, you will be introduced to the basics of acceptance and commitment training (ACT, pronounced as one word), an extensively researched model of behaviour change used in health care, business, coaching, sports psychology, and psychotherapy. With an eye toward the challenges of the current moment, you will learn to:

  • Let go of struggling with what you cannot control whether painful feelings or uncertain circumstances
Show up to your pain—worries, stress, anger, sadness—with kindness and compassion
  • Disentangle from thoughts that consume your mental space
  • Take action guided by your values, no matter what the circumstances

Life is hard right now as we are emerging from a global pandemic. But we can learn skills to make it a little bit easier and we can take action to live meaningfully.

Learning objectives:

  • Better identify what they can and cannot control in their thoughts and feelings, their work lives, and their relationships.
  • Learn to show up to their pain – worries, stress, anger, or sadness – with kindness and compassion.
  • Gain strategies for disentangling from thoughts that consume their mental space and direct them away from compassionate self-care and meaningful action.
  • Tune into their most deeply held values and identify actions they can take in the service of them, even when things are hard.

Registration fees: $125
