What will be discussed?

One in three women will experience distressingly low sexual desire in their lifetime, though many of them will never speak to a healthcare provider about their concerns. The #DebunkingDesire team, led by Dr. Lori Brotto, sought to disseminate evidence-based information about low sexual desire through a targeted social media campaign. This multidisciplinary team leveraged a variety of social media platforms, strategies informed by previous knowledge translation campaigns, and personal expertise to engage their audience and drive impressions. In this presentation, the team will discuss their strategies, experiences, and recommendations for others considering a social media knowledge translation campaign.

After this webinar, the audience will be able to:

  • Understand the rationale for using social media to debunk sexuality myths and share science on women’s sexual health.
  • Understand the planning and strategy behind a social media knowledge translation campaign.
  • Evaluate varying digital platforms and dissemination strategies for relevance and impact for a given campaign.
  • Consider a multidisciplinary, diverse team including a patient partner to meet knowledge translation goals.
