This training is suitable for: Mental Health Professionals: Psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, social workers. Medical Professionals: Nurses, psychiatrists, pediatricians, family doctors. Direct Service Workers: Drop in workers, shelter and hostel workers, child and youth workers, youth justice workers. Educators: Teachers, ECE, school administration, support staff.

Level of training: Introductory

Description: Clients presenting with either a substance use or mental health problem are more likely than not to have a concurrent disorder.  By understanding the connection or co-occurring interaction between the substance use and mental health problems, this will enhance the quality for developing effective assessment, treatment and community-based plans using collaborative, integrative and responsive approaches to client care. This webinar will provide a clinical overview for assessment, practical applications, and tools and techniques for working with adolescents (age 12 to 18) and/or adult clients.

  • Understanding and identifying concurrent disorders
  • Support clients and families
  • Develop individualized services delivery plans for clients
  • Screen, assess and gain knowledge for the treatment of concurrent disorder
  • The benefits of Polyvagal therapy with CD
  • Acquire skills in using motivational interviewing for concurrent disorder
  • Gain an overview of working with concurrent disorder integration treatment approaches
