Webinar: Congruence Couples Therapy for Gambling and Substance Use Disorder

Webinar: Congruence Couples Therapy for Gambling and Substance Use Disorder

This interactive webinar will offer a practical and evidence-based introduction to Congruence Couples Therapy (CCT). CCT is a humanistic, systemic, trauma-informed approach that utilizes the couple relationship as a resource to create significant clinical outcomes for addiction and mental health. It offers a conceptual shift away from focusing solely on the individual and symptom reduction to address the complex and relational issues that often underlie gambling and addictive disorders. Participants will engage in discussion of cases and clinical vignettes on how CCT can be applied to clinical presentations of problem gambling, substance use, and other co-occurring mental health issues.

Speaker: Dr. Bonnie Lee, PhD, MSW (RSW), Reg. CAMFT, is an Associate Professor in Health Sciences (Addictions Counselling) at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta. A highly-rated speaker, international trainer and a Clinical Fellow of the Canadian and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Dr. Lee is the Principal Investigator in two decades of research that developed the theory and efficacy of Congruence Couples Therapy for addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns.

Learning objectives for this webinar:

  • Describe the key concepts, values, and skills that are foundational to Congruence Couples Therapy (CCT).
  • Explain how CCT can be an effective intervention for problem gambling, substance use disorders, and their comorbidities.
