The Canadian Centre for Child Protection has two excellent resources for parents, caregivers and professionals who would like more information about keeping children and youth safe online.

Protectkidsonline.ca has a range of information covering issues such as cyberbullying, exploitation, healthy relationships and online boundaries. This site also separates information by age brackets so information is tailored for children and young people aged 5-7, 8-10, 11-12 and 13-15 years.

Needhelpnow.ca is another site they have developed directly for youth to find out more information particularly about cyberbullying and particularly supporting individuals who need support in removing graphic images or videos that have been shared on the internet. This site has step-by-step processes for each social media platform and for when images or videos are stored on another person's phone. This also includes information about Cybertip.ca, where youth can report if they feel they or someone else is at risk of being exploited onling.

At GGTU we are developing digital tools for professionals to support young people who are experiencing harmful social media and smartphone use which we will share with our Community of Interest when they launch on our website.
