Is Technology Addiction As Dangerous as drug & alcohol addiction for teens?

As a parent I am very concerned for the upcoming generation with gaming/technology use. I find that it is very addicting, my children have a ipad however we use it when we are camping and it is raining or in the vehicles. I do notice a reaction from my children when the ipad is taken away.

I feel due to the ever-changing world we are in and how much technology is a part of our world also has a huge impact, not necessarily that technology is bad just that we as parents and adults need to be able to teach our children healthy boundaries with our technology, games and screens. How do we do this though if we ourselves do not have healthy boundaries with technology or video games?
