Whether it is to temporarily distract from the overwhelming feelings or to learn more about strategies that work, it seems the best use of technology when one tries to find help from available resources in absence of another instantly available professional help. In practice, I often suggest the clients take the help of YouTube videos for guided meditation, positive affirmations, etc.

As a mother whose 12-year-old just spent $50 of his birthday money on loot boxes in Overwatch, having some idea of the odds of his getting the skin of his dreams would definitely have given me a better argument to dissuade him from doing this. There was one interesting study recently of 120,000 Chinese school children aged 6-8 that showed an increase in short-sightedness during the COVID-19 pandemic. It's important to remember we don't know if this is because of increased screen time or less time spent outdoors in daylight (or both). Hi Olive I can't find the original document but it is called Ontario's problem - gambling Strategy and it has been in existence since 1996. Since 1999, it has been funded by a formula of 2 percent of gross slot machine revenue from charity casinos and slots at racetracks. Good find Brian, although I would be conscious about point 6 as it's not so much that people's eye sight improves (if anything, there's more research showing the opposite), but games do tend to improve spatial intelligence (hence why we believe my gamer husband ALWAYS knows the best container to use for left overs!) Re: Turning off notifications, does it actually help?
I turned notifications off on a couple apps that I was using and I found it very helpful. In fact, I also deleted another social media app altogether and I dont feel the need to check it. I dont have a strong fear of missing out. I do notice though that these apps do their best to try and get you back, by maybe sending emails or other types of notifications to entice you to come back. I wonder about the methodology of the research that gave the results that they got.
