Gambling, Gaming & Technology Use Community of Interest

The Gambling, Gaming & Technology Use Community of Interest brings together addiction and mental health service providers, researchers and subject matter experts in the fields of gambling, technology/Internet use and video gaming to collaborate and share knowledge on emerging trends and clinical best practices.

The Youth Gambling Awareness Program (YGAP) with the YMCA of Greater Toronto is hosting a FREE and VIRTUAL Media Impact webinar. Below is a brief description of the webinar:

How many youth were exposed to a gambling ad during lockdown? Can Twitch be used to gamble? Are influencers being used to market gambling products?

The YMCA of Greater Toronto's Youth Gambling Awareness Program's (YGAP) Media Impact presentation will tackle these questions and more, in a free hour-long session. The webinar is designed for educators, community leaders, parents, and anyone else who is curious about the latest gambling trends on social media and in advertising, and their impact on youth. Additionally, all webinar participants will be provided with strategies and techniques they can pass onto youth that will assist them in identifying the objective and impact of media content and advertisements.

The webinar is FREE to attend and is being offered on:

  • Friday, August 26th at 1:00pm EST - 2:00pm EST.
