This article reviews multiple studies about the influence of social media on body image - both positively and negatively.

Some of the positive sides of social media included when more realistic images were shown, including comparisons to "touched up" photos.

It can also be helpful when individuals are part of  "body positive" movements on Instagram, women feel about their bodies, but they were also in better moods, and feel like they are part of a community.

This is helpful to be aware of, as not all social media is bad, some of it can be connecting and affirming.
