The Gambling, Gaming & Technology Use Community of Interest brings together addiction and mental health service providers, researchers and subject matter experts in the fields of gambling, technology/Internet use and video gaming to collaborate and share knowledge on emerging trends and clinical best practices.

·      She spoke about how her son would not connect at family dinners because ‘it was not as exciting’ as his video games. He ended up wanting to miss school due to the desire to play video games, which in turn involved him having to have professional help.

·      A greater focus on technology resilience, which focus’ on having technology use in a controlled manner and using digital decompression, which mimics detox from the technology use.

·      Focusing on a family or support model to have an overall change in behaviours, to support the individual who is struggling with PTU. When people focus on their own behaviours, it can allow for systems in place that minimize use overall.

·      Emphasis on who is profiting on the PTU, companies who rely on over engagement and often have teams to focus on this component. Which like many forms of addictions, highlights systemic issues.
