Justice and Equity Lab, MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions, St. Michael's Hospital

Our lab is creating a self-management app for problem gambling called SPRinG (Supporting People Recovering from Problem Gambling). The SPRinG app is currently being developed to help, first and foremost, persons experiencing poverty and homelessness self-manage their problem gambling and other complex needs by providing people with constant access to support through their smartphone. The app will also function as a tool for anyone experiencing gambling concerns to manage the harms associated with excessive gambling. The app will provide clients with: 1) individualized content that breaks down the skills clients require to manage their PG; 2) tools that help clients control their gambling; 3) journaling and visualization tools to help provide clients with insight and a record of their progress, and 4) quick access to people who can help support client’s recovery.

We are entering the user testing phase. The purpose of user testing is to help inform this phase of app design.

We are asking people to answer a 16-question survey. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share the survey link (https://redcap.utoronto.ca/sur.../?s=CYPWHAAJCHHRCK9D) with people with lived experience of gambling problems and service providers who work with this population. We aim to recruit a diverse group of survey participants, including diversity in organizational affiliation, age, gender identity, sexual identity, as well as ethno-racial and cultural identities.

We will be providing a $5 Tim Hortons gift card to those who participate in the survey. The survey will be open until Friday, December 31st. If anyone would like to complete the survey with the help of a member of the St. Michael’s Hospital research team, we would be happy to set up a zoom meeting or phone call to do so. Feel free to contact the research team at springapp@unityhealth.to or 1-844-781-1516.

If you have any questions about the survey, please feel free to reach out.

Thanks for considering.
