COVID-19 and suicide: Potential implications and opportunities to influence trends in Canada - Policy Brief

This new policy brief explores the potential impact of COVID-19 on mental health and suicide rates, provides insight into which potential risk and protective factors to monitor, and highlights the existing opportunities to influence these trends.

The policy brief highlights the importance of advocating for the continued expansion of universal supports, adequate funding to maintain and enhance mental health and substance use services, and amplified monitoring and research to better understand the dynamic impacts of this pandemic, now and in the future.
