Nutrition Research Study Recruiting GTA Women with Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Do you work with women who experience anxiety?

There is growing evidence that the food we eat impacts our mental health; however, most of the research to date has involved participants with depression. More research is needed to understand the effects of diet counselling on symptoms of anxiety.

We are currently recruiting adult women (18-65) with generalized anxiety disorder to take part in a clinical trial testing the effects of diet modification and omega-3 supplementation. Participants must be able to attend study visits in North York (Toronto). Participants  will receive 12 weeks of dietary counselling and omega-3 supplements at no cost. They will also receive food items (such as olive oil, almonds and walnuts, lentils and beans, and whole grains) and an honorarium for completing study questionnaires. Participants can continue to use any other treatments for anxiety while participating in the study. This study has been reviewed by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine Research Ethics Board and approved by Health Canada.

This project is a collaboration between researchers/clinicians at McGill University, the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Harvard University and the University of Guelph.
