Data are now available from the 2019/20 collection cycle of the Canadian Postsecondary Education Alcohol & Drug Use Survey. Data were collected from 21,297 students at 41 universities, colleges, and CEGEPS.

  • 77% of students indicated that they had consumed alcohol within the past month, and 40% indicated weekly or greater alcohol use
  • 33% had used cannabis in the past month, with 8% reporting daily use
  • 2% reported daily tobacco use
  • Students were more likely to report driving after cannabis use than after alcohol use.

This survey is part of Health Canada's substance use surveillance strategy.
