The inaugural Street Psychiatry Annual Meeting (SPAM) brings together clinicians, community organizations, advocacy groups, people with lived experience and decision-makers to create a forum where we can share best practices, create a national network of experts working in this area, collaborate on research projects, and inform policy around providing mental health care to people who are unhoused in Canada.

Join us to connect, learn and share knowledge about how to improve care among this population.

Registration Now Open for the Street Psychiatry Annual Meeting (SPAM)

The Hatching Ideas lab is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the inaugural Street Psychiatry Annual Meeting taking place from May 15-17, 2023. This is a hybrid event, with the in-person component to be held at the University of Ottawa.

For people experiencing homelessness, accessing health care poses significant barriers, including a lack of proof of insurance, lack of access to transportation and institutionalized stigma. One way to address this is through street psychiatry, which brings mental healthcare to the shelter, street or wherever people are currently living.

This event will feature presentations related to best practices in delivering mental healthcare to unhoused populations including:

·         Harm Reduction Approaches

·         Trauma-Informed Care for People who are Unhoused or in Unstable Living Conditions

·         Staff Wellness and Burnout
