New evidence-based tools and training to support mental health of Canadians of South Asian origin
On March 7, CAMH, in collaboration with the Mental Health Commission of Canada and community partner organizations nationwide, released new research which provides evidence that culturally adapted CBT is a more effective treatment for the South Asian population in Canada than traditional psychotherapy. The report, entitled Culturally Adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Canadians of South Asian Origins, is offered alongside training resources for mental health professionals of all backgrounds on how to implement the newly developed culturally adapted mental health treatment for South Asian people, as well as supplementary information for patients and mental health professionals.
