Hi I have a question. Do we need to complete an OCAN for a deceased client? I work in mental health and unfortunately one of our Clients passed away. Thanks

Definitely a great question for the OCAN Community of Interest.
I thought that’s where I posted it lol
Hi @Registered Member,
The direct link to the OCAN subgroup is: https://www.eenetconnect.ca/g/...ommunity-of-interest
@Registered Member has shared the following with me regarding your question:
The provincial standard is to complete a discharge OCAN when a client is deceased to understand the client’s situation just prior to their death. It’s ok to use “unknown” or leave non-mandatory fields blank. Be sure to complete the exit date and exit disposition in the Mental Health Functional Centre. The 2 options for deceased in the exit disposition field is “suicide” or “death”.
CCIM is interested in any feedback you have regarding this standard rule. We encourage you to send your feedback to CCIM by emailing servicedesk@ccim.on.ca
Hope this helps.
