Do you want better for your patients with psychiatric concerns? We do.

Do you worry about accessing mental health services for your loved ones? We do.

Ontario’s patients deserve better.

Will you support the Ontario Psychiatric Association in our mission, advocating for the interests of psychiatrists and individuals living with mental illness and substance use disorders?

OPA’s recent advocacy work:

  • call to delay MAiD expansion (CBC interview)
  • Mental Health Act Law reform to eliminate legal barriers to earlier treatment access for the severely ill
  • Keira’s Law - judicial education re intimate partner violence
  • preserving OHIP-covered psychotherapy

The OPA requires sustained membership and finances to continue this work. Without our members, there is no OPA. Without the OPA, the province lacks a credible organisation to stand up for the mental health system needs of Ontarians.

Our membership base is primarily psychiatrists and trainees, but OPA welcomes associates from various health disciplines to join for only $115:

  • Family Medicine
  • GP Psychotherapy
  • Registered Psychotherapy
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Nursing
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Occupational Therapy

OPA members enjoy discounts from our educational partners and affiliate services:

  • PsychedUP CME
  • UofT Psych Refresh Annual Review Course
  • Sick Kids CCMH Learning Institute
  • Leading Edge Seminars
  • PESI  [details pending]
  • McLean Hospital [details pending]
  • Caversham Booksellers
  • Intelligent Office [details pending]

More ways to support the OPA:

  • Recruit a colleague — you will each be eligible for a $20 refund (associate and full psychiatrist categories eligible)
  • Post career, office space, or research recruitment listings on the OPA website
  • Patients and family members can participate in working groups or  contribute financially
  • Inquire about sponsoring the OPA
  • Follow us on social media (Twitter, Facebook)

As a not-for-profit, all OPA membership dues are used to support the Association's advocacy activity and member services.
