All of the training's are "difficult" and the life journeys shared are beyond "tragic".  The pervasive layers of stigma, barriers and being treated "like garbage" are the common themes that weave throughout.  I often wonder how any of them managed to survive, let alone find their self determined recovery; or their equilibrium after losing a child/loved one, and then step up as leaders/champions and heroes to provide their voices (at considerable potential risk) as a public speaker or any form of advocacy or system transformation.

The training (s) always start with some "hesitation" by participants-YET THEY CAME.  They come in having been shamed, blamed, guilt-ed and tossed by society-YET THEY CAME.  There losses have been profound (inclusive of a large demographic who have lost their children and loved ones)-YET THEY CAME.   And throughout that day, both Sean and myself as trainers, see a metamorphosis.  I have embedded all 12 pictures of participants receiving their certificate for the training so you can see the absolute resiliency and metamorphosis to joy and profound pride.

Thanks Rossana. It was a very moving day!  Both Sean and I had tears in our eyes (again) as we listened to the "horrors" but also marveled at the resiliency.  I think my biggest pain point is that stigma is still so pervasive and such a barrier.  To me stigma is a form of bullying and we need to stomp it out once and for all.  Stigma is so culpable in so many deaths and destruction of life.
