Hello;

The collective "we" (PSSP ORH at CAMH) are now offering the 10th Strengthening Your Voice Speakers training. This time we are going to Thunder Bay and we are hoping that you can help us network out to that area.  I have posted some pictures below from previous trainings.

On Friday, June 22nd, the Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) at CAMH is hosting a free full-day training in Thunder Bay designed to prepare people with lived experience of problematic use of opioids and/or their family members to share their personal stories. The Strengthening Your Voice training session is inclusive of and honours all recovery choices (including methadone and other harm reduction options, abstinence, and 12-step approaches).

Space is limited, so register early! REGISTER HERE. The application deadline is Friday, June 15th. (I would suggest ASAP and definitely before June 7th 2018). Applicants will be informed of the status of their application shortly after that date.

At the end of the training, participants will:

  • Feel confident framing, sharing, and delivering your story in an unbiased and safe way.
  • Know how to deal with personal triggers, multiple audience dynamics, and potential responses and reactions.
  • Be connected with a network of people who use their personal stories to build understanding and break down stigma about opioid use.
  • Receive a certificate of completion from the Provincial System Support Program at CAMH.

Cost - FREE.  An honorarium will be provided to each participant, and breakfast and lunch are included.

Eligibility

  • Lived experience problematic opioid use (self, family, or significant other).
  • Interested in sharing your story publicly to build understanding and break down stigma.
  • Have achieved a significant level of recovery.
  • Resident of Thunder Bay.

Please note that, depending on the number of applications, not every person who applies will be accepted as a participant.

Trainers
