CBT-p Training for Professionals

Are you a frontline professional supporting individuals who experience psychosis?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBT-p) and Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) are evidenced-based approaches that have been shown to be effective in managing the experience of psychosis, reducing relapses and improving daily functioning and quality of life.

CBT-p Training for Professionals Overview

This three-part training will provide you with the theory behind CBT-p and CT-R as well as practical skills and strategies that you can apply to your work with clients. By discussing key considerations and practical applications for the beginning, middle and end of treatment, this training will give you an overview of how to apply these modalities to support clients in their recovery and achieving better outcomes.

You will learn:

  • • How to develop a case conceptualization
  • • Treatment planning
  • • Interventions for addressing psychosis
  • • How to increase motivation for treatment
  • • Discharge planning
  • • Relapse prevention

Dates: Offered in three sessions:
  1. Thursday February 3
  2. Thursday February 10
  3. Thursday February 17

Time: 1:00-3:00pm EST

Price:
$350 per person – Early Bird registration (until January 7 at 5:00pm)
$390 per person – Regular registration

This training will be held virtually using Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants the day before the session.

Meet our Facilitators
Sophie-Hwang_300px.pngSophie Hwang, MSW, PhD (Ed.)
Sophie is the cognitive behavioural therapy for psychosis (CBT-p) training lead and support services manager at IAM. She provides support and services to individuals and family members who are impacted by a broad range of psychotic illnesses, including schizophrenia. She also developed and delivers IAM's Recovery in Action CBT group for individuals living with psychosis. She received her CBT training from the University of Toronto and the Beck Institute. A registered social worker, Sophie has an MSW from York University and an MEd in Counselling Psychology and a PhD in Education from the University of Toronto.
Alyssa_Hirji_300px.pngAlyssa Hirji, MSW, RSW
Alyssa received her MSW from the University of Toronto and is the family and individual clinical counsellor at IAM. She has experience providing both individual and group support to those affected by mental illness, particularly psychosis. Alyssa has previously project managed the CBT-p-informed workshop for family caregivers and is currently a lead facilitator with IAM’s Recovery in Action program, a CBT-p-informed psychoeducational support group for individuals living with psychosis. Alyssa continues to receive CBT training through the Beck Institute.
