About the event:

211 or 911: Toronto Community Crisis Service: TAIBU Community Health Centre

The Toronto Community Crisis Service is a 3 year pilot project run by the City of Toronto that has recently partnered with TAIBU Community Health Centre until 2025.

The program launched in April 2022 in Scarborough and throughout the summer of 2022 at 3 other locations across the city. TCCS is a non-police lead crisis service for anyone dealing with a mental health crisis or supporting someone with mental health challenges.

Post Crisis Case Management is available for clients who are in need to help with the social determinants of health that may have lead to the initial crisis. To access the service community members should call 211.

About the presenter:

Racquel obtained her Honors Sociology degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and her Masters in Social Work from York University. She has always had a passion for working with the Black Community with the hopes of seeing her community flourish in not only physical health but also in mental and emotional well-being.

In her time at Taibu, her focus has always been to improve the quality of life for the people she serves through her knowledge and experience.

As a past professor at Durham College, Racquel continues to assist others to impact the Black community in a larger capacity by exacting change from within in order to deliver an effective and ground-breaking service to the Black and Indigenous communities suffering with mental health challenges.

More recently, Racquel is now the Manager of Wellness and Community Crisis Response at TAIBU and hopes to continue to make an impact in the Scarborough community.
